RAM Sustainability Affirms KLK’s Sustainability Rating, Upgrades Environment Rating

RAMC has reaffirmed Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad’s (“KLK”) Sustainability Rating at Gold (G2). This year, KLK’s environmental performance saw an improvement, with their Environment Rating upgraded from G3 to G2. This upgrade reflects KLK’s strong commitment to mitigating climate change, as evidenced by their target-setting for carbon emissions and their adherence to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol disclosure standards.

Sustainability has remained a core principle for KLK, fully integrated into their business strategy. This achievement underscores KLK’s ongoing dedication to decarbonisation, supply chain traceability, upholding human rights, ensuring worker safety, protecting biodiversity, and investing in education, environmental initiatives, and their communities and employees.

The RAM Sustainability report highlighted several factors contributing to the reaffirmed G2 rating, including:

  1. Strong governance practices, reflected in KLK’s comprehensive Sustainability Policy and the implementation of sustainability programs established under Project SHIFT.
  2. KLK’s Sustainability Commitments announced in the previous year.
  3. A commitment to No Deforestation, No Peat, and No Exploitation (NDPE) principles, extending to newly acquired operations.
  4. A robust dedication to upholding Human Rights.
  5. Positive impact on the environment, economy and society through sustainable palm oil production and supply chain.
